Laser hair removal aftercare: a simple guide
Good aftercare protects your skin and your results, and most of it is common sense. Here is what matters between and after sessions.
Calm skin, gentle care
Some redness or warmth for a short time is normal. Keep the area clean, avoid heat such as hot baths, saunas and intense exercise for a day or so, and follow whatever your clinic advises for your skin.
Avoid anything irritating on the area immediately afterwards, and do not scrub. If anything looks unusual or persists, contact the clinic.
Sun, shaving and patience
Protect the area from the sun and skip self-tanner, because tanned skin changes how the next session goes. Between appointments you shave rather than wax or epilate, since the laser needs the root in place.
Hair shedding in the days after a session is expected, not regrowth. A course takes time, and patience between sessions is part of the result.
Your questions
Can I go in the sun after laser?
Protect the treated area and avoid deliberate sun exposure and self-tanner, since tanning affects the next session. Your clinic gives specifics for your skin.
Is shedding normal afterwards?
Yes. Hair often sheds in the days after a session, which is expected and not regrowth.
Can I shave between sessions?
Yes, shaving is fine and usually recommended. Avoid waxing or epilating, since the laser needs the root in place.
