Your first aesthetic consultation: what to expect

A first consultation should leave you better informed, not pushed. Here is what a good one looks like and how to make the most of it.

What happens

Listen, examine, explain

A good consultation starts with your goal. The doctor listens, examines, explains which options fit your indication, and is honest about limits and risks. Nothing is injected or treated without this step.

It is also where contra-indications are caught, which is why your history, allergies and current treatments matter and should be shared openly.

Making the most of it

Questions worth asking

Reasonable questions include what the treatment will and will not do, how many sessions are realistic, what the recovery looks like and what happens if you want to stop. A clinic that welcomes these is a good sign.

A first consultation should never end with pressure to decide on the day. Taking time to think, or seeking a second opinion, is always legitimate.

FAQ

Your questions

Do I have to decide on the day?

No. A serious clinic gives you time and respects a second opinion. Pressure to commit immediately is a reason to pause.

What should I bring up?

Your goal, your medical history, allergies and any current treatments, plus any questions about limits, sessions and recovery.

Will the doctor turn me away?

Sometimes, yes, and that is a good sign. A careful doctor declines when an act is not indicated for you.
